Driving Medano Pass through the Sangre de Cristo Range to the Great Sand Dunes. The majority of this forest was burned in a fire 3 years ago. 20mi of 4x4 trails and 9 creek crossings!

After skiing the Loft we had to descend into this drainage area to avoid some avalanche terrain. The alternate route meant for a long 4th class scramble over rock and snow to get back on the ridge line trail. (at Boulder County: Longs Peak)

Skied down from the ridge (13,000ft+) into the no fall zone above the crux of the Loft Couloir. We put our crampons on again for the down climb. Wet slab potential was quickly increasing around 11:00am so we needed to get down fast. (at Boulder County: Longs Peak)
